ISO/TS 16949 is the ISO technical specification which integrates the quality systems in the automotive industry typical for the American (QS-9000), German (VDA6.1), French (EAQF) and Italian (AVSQ) standards. Therefore, it is not necessary to hold different certificates for the different countries which the company makes business in.
Receiving ISO/TS 16949 Certificate is much more difficult than ISO 9001 as it demands holding the quality certificate for minimum 12 months and co-opearting with at least one company from the automotive industry. As it is based on the ISO 9001 standard, next to all quality requirements typical for this standard, its aim is to improve the system and process quality to increase customers` satisfaction, to identify problems and risks in the production process and supply chain, to eliminate their causes and to examine and take corrective and preventive measures for their effectiveness in the design, planning, production, audit, assmebly and service processes in the automotive industry.
ISO/TS 16949 enables flexible compatibility with the automotive concerns` requirements, standardization of the production processes, continual improvement, emphasizing defect prevention and the reduction of variation and waste in the supply chain, as well as the compatibility with the international quality standards in the automotive industry.
